| Term | Definition |
| Jigger | A jigger is a small, metal measuring cone used to measure the amount of alcohol that goes into a mixed drink. It is not to be confused with a shot glass. A shot glass is a piece of glassware used to serve shots, and is generally considerably larger than (holds more than) a jigger. |
| Job Code | A name or number given to a group of employees who all perform the same functions.Example: Job Code ‘01’ may be bartenders, and ‘02’ may be servers. |
| Jobs | A work category. Labor rates can be assigned by job, and labor totals can be tracked by job. |
| Journal | A record of transactions that take place at a workstation, or in an entire revenue center or restaurant. This provides a trail of activity that is independent of hard copies of guest checks, validation slips, etc. The journal also includes entries for cancelled transactions, no sales, and other activities that may not necessarily generate a receipt. |
| Journal Printing | All transactions that take place at a UWS, in a revenue center, or in an entire system are recorded to a journal. This journal can either be printed onto paper, or written to a file on a hard disk. |
